PRISMA 2020 checklist
PRISMA 2020 is the reporting standard for systematic reviews: a 27-item main checklist (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion) plus a 12-item abstract checklist. Complete it as you write and submit it with your manuscript, recording where each item is reported.
- Fill it in as you write, not at the end — it doubles as a drafting guide.
- Record the page or section for every item; reviewers check these locations.
- Use the official tool below to complete it online and download a Word or PDF report.

Prospective registration (PROSPERO)
PROSPERO is the international prospective register of systematic reviews (Centre for Reviews and Dissemination, University of York). Registering your protocol records your methods up front, avoids duplication, and is free.
- Register prospectively — before you start screening/data extraction; late registrations are usually not accepted.
- Have your PICO question, eligibility criteria, search plan, and analysis methods ready before you begin the form.
- After the editorial check you get a permanent registration number (e.g. CRD42025XXXXXX); cite it in your protocol and report (PRISMA 2020 item 24a).
- Create your account and complete the form on the official site below.
